ABC and All My Children welcome Ricky Paull Goldin as Dr. Jake Martin.
Many people will recognize Ricky from his role as the beloved character
Gus Aitoro which he portrayed on Guiding Light from 2001-2008. Ricky
first appeared on All My Children as Dr. Jake Martin at the end of April.
The first time we saw Jake, he was being held prisioner in Africa where
he has been working for Doctors Without Borders, sponsored by Cambias
Enterprises. Upon hearing of his capture, Zach sent Aidan Devane(special
ops agent)to Africa to rescue him. The plan to rescue Jake worked, because
the next time we saw Jake, he was in Pine Valley Hospital being treated
for mal-nutrition; bruises; contusions; and a possible concussion.
With a little help from Dixie's(Cady McClain)ghost, she managed to keep
Jake in Pine Valley by whispering in his ear, that if he were to leave now,
he would never see his brother again(Tad-played my Michael Knight).
Which now brings us to the month of May. Jake only intended to stay
long enough to attend the wedding of his friends Jesse and Angie Hubbard.
What little did he know, trouble and sorrow/loss were on the horizon.
During the reception, evil uncle Rob Gardner(Tads uncle)took Angie hostage
and proceded through the ballroom and guests, and started shooting people
at random, one being Julia Santos the other Greg Nelson. All of this happened
over a diamond Rob had been searching for for 20 years since Jesse had been
presumably dead. With the diamond in his pocket, and Angie as his hostage,
he made his way to the roof where a helicopter was waiting(courtesy of Tad)
to take them on their honeymoon. Once on the roof, more shots rang out, as
he fired his gun at Jesse; Tad; Jake; and Frankie. As the group ran toward the
helicopter to rescue Angie, Tad(Jakes brother)was shot. Jake and Frankie were
frantically trying to save Tad, while Jesse battled uncle Rob in the helicopter to
save Angie. While Jake performed emergency surgery on the roof to save his brother
Tad, Frankie fought with and subdued uncle Rob, while Jesse landed the helicopter.
Once on the ground, the police took Rob into custody, but it looked as if Tad would
not make it. If not for Frankie knowing how to fly a helicopter, Tad would have
died on that roof top. Back at the hospital, Jake frantically worked on Tad, while
we learned that Julia(Sydney Penney)had died from her gunshot wound that she
received from Rob Gardner. Jake performed emergency surgery on his brother,
and even though it was touch and go, Tad came through the surgery.
The month of June, brought us to Tad and Dixie's second chance at happiness,
while Tad lay unconscious and near deaths door. Tad and Dixie's second chance,
was to give us loyal viewers a chance at closure with our favorite couple.
We were shown the birth of their daughter Kate and how she grew up in front of
their eyes. We were shown her graduation; her going off to college; her wedding;and
the birth of their first grandchild. We were also given the chance to see Tad and Dixie
grow old together and gracefully into there golden years. Dixie managed to convince
Tad that he needed to return to his family; friends; and yes his daughters Kate and
Jenny. Upon hearing from Adam that he had found his daughter Kate, and she was
in Pine Valley, Tad opened his eyes. Now that Tad was going to be o.k., and he was
reunited with his daughter Kate, Jake felt he could now leave for his work in Africa
and Doctors Without Borders. But unfortunately, he could never return to Africa
due to the fact that when he and Aidan escaped, the rebel leader that was holding
him and Aidan was killed in the explosion which prompted a bounty to be put on
his head, which meant he would be shot on sight. Now it looks like Jake is in Pine Valley
for a much longer if not a permanent stay. Convinced by family and friends to stay,
Jake(Ricky)has decided to spend his time working at Pine Valley Hospital. We
also know that Jake came home from Africa with a big secret he does not want
to share with any one at this moment. When asked about his wife Carolyn, he
states that they are no longer together, and that he doesn't want to talk about it.
He then changes the subject and moves onto some one elses life and what is
happening with them. All of us Ricky/Jake fans, feel the secret he is carrying
around with him has to do with his wife Carolyn, and that she might be dead.
We all are very anxious to find out what his secret is, and it is about time that the
secret be revealed. After all, he has been carrying this with him for the past 2 1/2
months. Please let the secret be revealed. What will the coming months hold
